Several concerts at ECSU this fall

Oct. 14—WILLIMANTIC — A wide variety of concerts will be at the Eastern Connecticut State University this fall.

All events will take place in the Fine Arts Instructional Center ( FAIC)' s Concert Hall, unless noted, and most are free and open to the public.

—The Thread City Jazz Trio will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Friday as part of the Faculty Recital Series. Anthony Cornicello plays piano, Rick O'Neal plays bass and Matt Bronson plays drums during the free concert.

—The Percussion Ensemble Concert, a free show, will be held on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. It will feature work for a large percussion ensemble, chamber percussion group, world percussion ensemble and steel band.

—Eastern's Opera workshop will present " An Evening with Kurt Weill" in the Fine Arts Instructional Center lobby on Friday, Nov. 18 at 2:30 p.m.. Scenes and areas from Weil's operas will be performed, including " Street Scene," " Knickerbocker Holiday" and " The Threepenny Opera."

—Eastern's Concert Chorale and Chamber Singers will perform global music during "Postcard Concert" on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are required to attend the performance. Tickets cost $10 for the general public, $7 for the faculty, staff and alumni and $5 for seniors 62 and over. Tickets are free for Eastern students, as well as students at other universities and all guests under the age of 18. Tickets can be purchased at easternct. showare.com/choralefall22.

—A piano studio recital on Monday, Nov. 21 at 3 pm. will highlight student pianists. The concert is free.

—Students will perform during The Jazz Ensemble & Jazz Combo Concert on Monday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m. Jazz Combo, a student- led ensemble, will play their interpretations of jazz standards. The group is led by two student directors, Evan Wood and Evan Gianfriddo, both of whom are in the class of 2025. The Jazz Ensemble is directed by Cornicello.

" Student chamber ensembles will perform during the Student Chamber Music Recital on Monday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. The performances will include songs from the Baroque period to the present.

—The Eastern Concert Band will perform music by contemporary composers Kevin Day, Omar Thomas and David Maslanka on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. This is the first full band performance in over two years.

—The Willimantic Orchestra will perform their fall concert on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 5 p.m. For more information about the concert, visit willimanticorchestra. org.

On Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. the Eastern Concert Band will perform exciting music by contemporary composers Kevin Day, Omar Thomas, and David Maslanka. Students, faculty, staff and community musicians from across the region will reunite for the first full band performance in over two years.

On Sunday, Dec. 11, at 5 p.m. the Willimantic Orchestra will present their fall concert.
