Several arrested in Larimer County, accused of supplying deadly fentanyl

DENVER (KDVR) — After months of investigation, detectives have arrested half a dozen suspects accused of participating in supplying fatal pills to a 43-year-old woman.

Jessica Lange was found dead by her partner on July 27, 2023, in their residence in the 5400 block of North Highway 1, which is also north of Fort Collins in Larimer County. A toxicology report identified multiple drugs in Lange’s system, including methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Investigators identified three Fort Collins residents as suspects using interviews and digital evidence. One of the suspects, Gary Brown, 52, was found to have several active cases with Fort Collins Police Services associated with his home in the 600 block of Justice Drive.

Police reported receiving several complaints from neighbors about suspected drug trafficking activity. On Feb. 29, FCPS conducted a search warrant on the home with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and found methamphetamine, several hundred fentanyl pills and three firearms.

One person was cited, and three people were arrested for that search, including Brown. He was arrested on a charge of unlawfully distributing fentanyl resulting in death, and was issued a $750,000 cash-only bond by Larimer County Court.

Also arrested were:

  • Christopher Bonin, 65, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) and possession of a controlled substance (schedule I/II/III/IV/V drug).

    • Larimer County Courts issued him a $1,250 personal recognizance bond

  • Alissa Garcia, 31, was arrested on two warrants for failure to appear

    • Garcia was booked on her warrants and issued a $50 personal recognizance bond and a $500 cash-only bond

  • Bryce McClain, 37, was cited for possession of a controlled substance

    • Larimer County Court issued her a $500,000 cash-only bond

    • Larimer County Court issued Rideout a $750,000 cash-only bond

In August 2023, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office investigators conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 3500 block of Windmill Drive in Fort Collins. Law enforcement found user amounts of fentanyl and methamphetamine during the operation.

“Fentanyl is destroying lives in our community, and we’ll continue working with our partners to hold dealers accountable,” said Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Captain Bobby Moll in a release. “These distribution investigations are challenging and resource intensive, but every pill we get off the street is a potential life saved.”

Fort Collins Police Services Assistant Chief Adam McCambridge said the department prioritizes the community’s safety and well-being.

“The collaborative efforts of officers, deputies, and detectives are invaluable in combating the devastating impact of illicit drugs, such as fentanyl, which knows no jurisdictional boundaries. By working together, we are able to make our region a safer place for all,” said McCambridge in a release.
