Driver flees after hitting man on motorized scooter in Clearwater, police say

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A driver fled on Monday afternoon after hitting a man on a motorized scooter in Clearwater, according to police.

The driver was on Gulf to Bay Boulevard near Hampton Road when they hit the man on the scooter, police said. The man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver has been identified, but their name was not publicly released.

The man who was hit is in critical condition, according to police, who said there would be no further updates on Monday.
