Who's the coach?

Aliou Cisse is not afraid to make big decisions, having left out some big names in his 23, most notably Everton's Oumar Niasse.

Who's the star?

Kalidou Koulibaly was one of the stars of Napoli's excellent Serie A campaign, shining at centre-half and scoring some important goals.

Best thing about them

Some serious talent should make them highly watchable. Any side with Sadio Mane in it has to be worth a few goals.

Worst thing about them

Lack of global tournament experience - this is only Senegal's second World Cup.

You may recognise...

The midfield is pretty much a West Midlands five-a-side league, although Stoke and Birmingham fans might feel they saw quite enough of their players over the last 10 months.

Cameramen will be picking out...

Any sign of El Hadji Diouf wearing his trademark understated outfit of gold-plated hat and jacket made out of rhino skin.

Fans' favourite chant

Anything supportive. One fans' group recently won an award for cheering fine play by the opposition as well as their own team. Don't expect it to catch on.

On-field prediction

A repeat of their exploits in 2002, when they reached the quarter-finals, should not be beyond them.

Off-field prediction

Half of all crowds at their matches being representatives of Jorge Mendes' Gestifute sports agency.
