Senator Greg Tarver endorses Rep. Sam Jenkins for state senate seat

Louisiana State Sen. Greg Tarver endorsed State Rep. Sam L. Jenkins Jr. Friday morning at J.S. Williams Funeral Home for State Senator for District 39.

"I am supporting and endorsing Sam Jenkins," said Tarver. "Not only have I served with Sam, I have worked with Sam, he's head of the Democrats in the House... and he knows how to work with people."

Jenkins said, "It's a very important endorsement, but more important than that Senator Tarver knows his district, he knows it very well, he's worked very hard... and knowing that I have his confidence going forward is very important to me."

Jenkins is a native of the Shreveport-Bossier area and is a graduate of the Caddo Parish Public School System.

If elected Jenkins has a few goals he would like to achieve. Check out his goals:

  • Maintain roads, bridges, water and sewer infrastructure.

  • Attract industrial jobs to Northwest Louisiana.

  • Invest in Healthcare and Education.

  • Bring parish-wide broadband networks for both Caddo and Bossier Parish.

  • Support public safety and crime prevention.

  • Support passenger railways between Dallas- Shreveport/Bossier- Atlanta.

  • Address the declining population in Northwest Louisiana.

"We are looking for the person that's best to bring the bacon back to District 39 and Caddo Parish," said Tarver. "That's the reason why I am endorsing and supporting Sam Jenkins."
