Sen. Al Franken resigns following sexual misconduct allegations

Democratic Senator Al Franken announced on Thursday he will resign from the U.S. Senate following allegations of sexual misconduct. Franken has represented Minnesota on Capitol Hill since 2009.

"Some of the allegations against me are simply not true," Franken said on the Senate floor. "Others I remember very differently."

Franken added a reflection on his time in his congressional position, saying, "Serving in the United States Senate has been the great honor of my life."
