Sempra names former California Treasurer and Goldman executive Kathleen Brown to its board
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Natural gas and electricity provider Sempra Energy said Friday it appointed former California Treasurer and Goldman Sachs executive Kathleen Brown to its board of directors.
Brown, 67, is the former chairman of Goldman's Midwest investment banking unit and managing director and head of western region public sector and infrastructure group. Sempra said she retired from Goldman earlier this year.
She is the sister of California Governor Jerry Brown and the daughter of former Governor Edmund Brown.
She was state treasurer from 1991 to 1995, and ran for governor in 1994.
Brown will be the twelfth director on Sempra's board.
Sempra directors receive an annual retainer of $50,000, plus a $2,000 fee for each board meeting and $1,500 for each committee meeting they attend, according to regulatory filings. They also receive deferred equity valued at $50,000 and an annual stock grant of $60,000. As a new director, Brown will receive an initial equity grant valued at $180,000.
