Selma Unified employee arrested on alleged child sexual abuse charges, released on bail

SELMA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A Selma Unified School District employee was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of multiple sexual abuse charges involving a child, according to the Selma Police Department. The school district said the accusation involves “inappropriate interactions with a female student.”

Selma Police say they arrested 26-year-old Selena Perez of Selma on Wednesday; she posted bail and bonded out of jail that same day.

Perez was booked into the Fresno County Jail on multiple felony charges including lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, sexual battery, arranging a meeting with a minor, and annoying and harassing a child under the age of 18.

The Selma Unified School District released the following statement.

We’ve been informed on April 10th that a female campus safety assistant has been accused of having inappropriate interactions with a female student. The employee, who works at our middle school, has been removed from campus by our campus School Resource Officer, who is a Police Officer working at the school site.
