Authorities in Florida reportedly can’t find Detroit Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton.

On Wednesday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) made it known that they are still searching for the seven-year NFL player, writing in a social media post:

“The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office needs your assistance in locating a wanted subject: Cameron Sutton, 29… He may be driving a Jeep Grand Wagoneer with a plate number of FL-AZ33QB.”

Sutton, a veteran defensive back, is wanted for domestic violence by strangulation, which is a third-degree felony that could result in a five-year prison sentence.

Sutton reportedly has been MIA since March 7, when the warrant for his arrest was issued. On that day, police responded to a call in Lutz, Florida, where Sutton allegedly hit a woman multiple times before leaving the scene. According to the HCSO, there were several wounds on the woman’s body.

The Detroit Lions, who recently made a run to the NFC Championship game, released a statement addressing Sutton’s legal situation that has been circulating on social media.

“We became aware of the ongoing legal situation involving Cam Sutton this morning. We will continue to monitor the situation and will not have further comment at this time,” said Michigan-based team.

Although Sutton is but the latest NFL player to be involved in a domestic violence case, the league has a history of its players finding themselves in situations like this.

Just this week, it was announced that police were called to the home of star NFL wide receiver Tyreek Hill in January due to a domestic disturbance, according to the Miami Herald.

Allegedly, his wife’s cousin overheard him screaming at his wife over a post-nuptial agreement.

In February, he was also sued for allegedly breaking an Instagram model’s leg while they were doing football drills in the summer of 2023.
