The average team the Tennessee Titans will play in 2024 had a losing record in 2023.

The NFL released its 2024 schedule on Wednesday, with the Titans opening their slate against the Chicago Bears in Week 1 and hosting the New York Jets for their home opener in Week 2. The Titans also feature games against five other teams that made the playoffs last season, including four in the first two months of the season.

That said, the Titans have one of the easier schedules in the NFL based on opponents' record last season. Here's a breakdown of the Titans' strength of schedule for 2024.

Tennessee Titans strength of schedule 2024

The Titans' opponents for 2024 posted a 142-147 record in 2023, good for a .491 winning percentage. That ties the Titans with the Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts for the 10th-easiest schedule in the league. Among AFC teams, only the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers boast easier schedules.

The Titans' strength of schedule ranking changes massively when adjusting for actual 2024 expectations, though. When strength of schedule is determined by predicted wins for 2024 rather than actual wins in 2023, the Titans have the sixth-toughest schedule in the league. This change happens because several of the teams on the Titans' schedule that underperformed last season (Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, Los Angeles Chargers, Chicago Bears) are expected to compete for playoff spots because of strong offseason and/or key players returning from injury.

Tennessee Titans strength of schedule by Super Bowl odds

The Titans' schedule looks even tougher when adjusting for which of its opponents are considered Super Bowl contenders. The Titans have the third-toughest average opponent in the NFL by projected Super Bowl odds, thanks in large part to games against the Detroit Lions, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans, Packers and Bengals. The Titans only play three games against teams ranked in the bottom 10 by Super Bowl odds, tied for the second-fewest in the league.
