Power outages are expected to be reported in the Tallahassee area and Leon County as Hurricane Idalia makes its way through Florida.

Idalia is forecast to become a Category 3 hurricane before making landfall along Florida's coast Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in 33 Florida counties, including Alachua, Bradford, Columbia, Gilchrist and Levy and urged all residents to be prepared.

A Tropical Storm Warning was in effect for Leon County as of Monday, Aug. 28.
