WASHINGTON – The House Judiciary Committee on Monday announced a sweeping new investigation into "alleged obstruction of justice, public corruption, and other abuses of power by President Trump, his associates, and members of his Administration."
The Democratically-controlled committee said in a statement that it had requested documents from 81 individuals and business entities connected to the president. Among the names were Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Jared Kushner, Steve Bannon and Michael Flynn.
"We have sent these document requests in order to begin building the public record," said Rep. Jerry Nadler, D. N.Y., the House Judiciary Committee Chairman said Monday.
