Five decades after his assassination, America is coming together once more to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. and his immeasurable contributions to the civil rights movement.
Among his long list of accomplishments, the Nobel Peace Prize recipient led the 1955 Montgomery bus boycott and helped found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Later, he organized the 1963 March in Washington, where he delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech. He was only 39 years old when he was gunned down by James Earl Ray on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee.
