See which CATS bus stops are being removed

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — CATS bus route changes are set to take place starting in June, with some uptown stops being discontinued or moving.

Starting June 3, 2024, outbound-from-Uptown service on Routes 11 and 21 will travel along College Street instead of North Tryon Street, with three stops on North Tryon Street discontinuing service.

Inbound-to-Uptown service involving other routes will use 4th Street to connect to Johnson and Wales University, with service along Church Street, Brooklyn Village Avenue and Graham Street being discontinued.

Those who work regularly around these routes noted that ridership on those routes is minimal as it us, due to the large amount of walking or car driving in the area, where many skyscrapers are based.

Dajon Leverette works in Uptown and said that, even though he is closer to those stops, he prefers to walk to the Charlotte Transportation Center to get bus service because of the amount of service there.

The Charlotte Transportation Center will be one of the new stop locations once the changes take effect in June.

CATS officials said last week that one of the main reasons they are making the route changes is due to the number of events where North Tryon Street is forced to close.
