See award-winning Lake Tahoe home owned by former Raiders star, for sale for $10.2M

The expansive, award-winning Lake Tahoe home of former Raiders offensive lineman Robert Gallery is on the market for $10.2 million.

The 2.38-acre property abuts Forest Service land, giving the estate a sense of privacy and seclusion. Yet, the stunning 5,670-square-foot home is close to the lake and a sandy beach.

In an attractive and seamless fit, the design of the residence — located on the West Shore at 160 Cherry Street in Homewood, California — perfectly mixes timeless mountain lodge style with modern industrial flair.

Robert and Becca Gallery finished building the home in 2020 after he retired from professional football in 2018. The Gallerys “fell in love” with the Lake Tahoe area while on vacation when Robert Gallery was playing in the NFL, according to a news release. The couple and their three children then moved from the San Francisco Bay Area.

The residence, built by Lake Tahoe contractor Markus Burkhart, won the “Tahoe Style” award in the 2023 Tahoe Quarterly mountain home issue.

Both accomplished athletes, the couple understand teamwork. In the Tahoe Quarterly article, they praised the builders, designers and landscapers.

“The amount of local artistic talent, paired with attention to every detail, made our vision a reality,” Becca Gallery said in a news release. “Our incredible team created every inch of our home to be specific and functional for our everyday Tahoe lifestyle.”

The main house comes with five bedrooms and five baths. There’s a 1,400 square-foot covered deck and “countless custom intricacies found around every corner,” including a wood-burning fireplace, according to the news release.

A floating staircase made of steel was designed and forged by local blacksmiths Jesse and Aaron Bushey of Kings Beach-based Bushey Ironworks. Equally dramatic are the home’s 20-foot stone, floor-to-ceiling, double-sided fireplace and a bar showcasing fine wood, stone and rock work.

A fully detached guest house provides one bedroom, one bath and four built-in bunk beds.

Through the Tahoe Swiss Village homeowners association, the estate has access to two buoys, two piers and a private beach across the street.
