Sedgwick County Zoo’s White Park cow, Tiger Lily, gives birth
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Sedgwick County Zoo’s White Park cow, 5-year-old Tiger Lily, gave birth on Thursday.
“This is her second calf, and everything went moo-velously,” said the SCZ. “Tiger Lily is a natural and taking care of her little one perfectly.”
She gave birth in front of staff and guests.
Tiger Lily and her calf can be found in the Zoo’s Children’s Farms.
According to the SCZ, White Park cows’ “shaggy white coat contrasts with its black ears, nose, and hooves. Any other black markings are a result of past crossbreeding. Its horns may be lyre-shaped and continue to twist as the animal ages. A small herd of ancient white park cattle was shipped from Europe to North America prior to World War II. This move prevented the breed from possible extinction during the Nazi invasion.”

White Park cows live up to 35 years and weigh 1,400-2,100 pounds. Their diet consists of hay and alfalfa.
