Secondary school forced to close by flooding
A secondary school has been closed in southern Scotland due to flooding.
Moffat Academy in Dumfries and Galloway suffered what has been described as "major water ingress" on both floors of the building.
The council confirmed that the secondary had been closed to all year groups due to damage.
The school has a roll of about 250 pupils.
The closure comes after some heavy rainfall across southern Scotland in recent days.
The Met Office issued warnings of severe downpours affecting the area.
A short alert from the council confirmed that the school had been shut due to water getting into the building but gave no further information.
It stated that it was expected it should be able to reopen on Tuesday.
