Second Rural King location in Terre Haute opens Thursday

Mar. 12—Rural King fans in the Wabash Valley will have a new option starting Thursday, when the popular chain opens its second store in Terre Haute, this one on South U.S. 41.

There's currently a Rural King at 3235 Wabash Ave in Terre Haute, and it will remain.

The new Terre Haute South store is next door to Hobby Lobby in the former Kmart building, 4651 S. U.S. 41.

Thursday marks a soft opening, meaning no big celebration, but the store will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., which will be its regular operating hours going forward, said Cara Gassman, manager at the new location.

Then, on March 22, the new Rural King will have its grand opening and ribbon cutting at 10 a.m.

Regular Rural King shoppers will be familiar with the look inside, but they'll also notice it's a little different, she added.

This style is exclusive to Terre Haute at the moment but will be the prototype for new Rural King stores going forward as the chain expands, she said.

"It's a new spin," Gassman said, "sort of the same but different, if you know what I mean. This will be the first of the new stores."
