Second man charged after man found beaten at Covington Economy Inn

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A second man was taken into custody after a man was found severely beaten at an Economy Inn in Covington, Tennessee.

Covington Police say Joshua Peete, 29, was arrested at the Economy Inn Thursday. Police say Peete had a “small amount of marijuana” on him when he was arrested.

Police responded to the Economy Inn on Wednesday. Officers reportedly found a victim with “severe” injuries to his face and neck. He later went to the hospital in critical condition.

Peete has been charged with aggravated assault. Covington Police say he is being held on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to be in court on April 30.

Steven Becton, 39, has also been charged with aggravated assault in this incident. Covington Police say Becton admitted to his role in the assault.

Police say the victim has been released from the hospital.
