DENVER (KDVR) — The 2024 Biden-Harris campaign is returning to Denver, this time with a visit from the second gentleman.

Doug Emhoff is set to travel to Denver on Thursday, according to a release from his White House office. He will be joined by Tom Perez, senior adviser to President Joe Biden and director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs.

The visit to Denver will be “to deliver remarks highlighting how the Biden-Harris Administration is reconnecting and rebuilding communities divided by transportation infrastructure decades ago,” according to the release. “Mr. Emhoff will also discuss administration actions to foster economic development and create opportunities for Americans.”

Migrants, infrastructure in focus for Emhoff visit

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston’s office said Wednesday that he and Perez “will host a roundtable discussion on Denver’s efforts to support newcomers.” Later, Emhoff will join them for a press conference “celebrating Denver’s new $35.4 million Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods Grant, aimed at supporting infrastructure projects to reconnect communities, funded through President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.”

A location was not immediately released, which is common for political visits with high-level security.

The mayor’s office said other roundtable attendees will include City Council Member Amanda Sandoval; Yoli Casas, executive director of Vive Wellness; Dr. Steven Federico, Denver Health’s chief government and community affairs office; and Dee Daniels Scriven, director of the Colorado Office of New Americans.

Emhoff’s Colorado visit will be followed by a Friday trip to Salt Lake City, where he will focus on clean water infrastructure. Perez will attend that trip too.

The second gentleman’s planned visit follows a campaign stop from Vice President Kamala Harris on March 12. While it was a repeat visit to the city for Harris, it was her first visit to campaign for the Biden-Harris 2024 ticket.

The vice president met with Latino community leaders during that appearance.
