Sebring, West Branch students net Mahoning scholarship

Students in the Class of 2024 who received the J.L. Francis Scholarship from the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley were recognized May 3 in an award ceremony. Recipients include, front row from left, Gretchen Bartels, Brynn Smith, Kendall Brunn, Sophia Yon, Swathi Padmanabhan, Emma Morris, NeVaeh Shouse, Mikayla Upright and Niara Keyes; and, back row from left, Keagan Beck, Jared Giovannone, Gabriella Gasior, Simon Kovass, Trent Williamson, Blake Thomas, Ashley Bellstrom, Kaleigh Williams, Evelyn Collier and Natalie DiVencenzo.

Students from Sebring McKinley Jr./Sr. High School and West Branch High School received a scholarship from the Community Fund of the Mahoning Valley.

Blake Thomas of Sebring McKinley and Brynn Smith of West Branch were awarded $1,000 scholarships May 3 during a ceremony to celebrate the winners of the J.L. Francis Scholarship, which is a component of the Community Fund of the Mahoning Valley.

The scholarship honors Jeffery Francis, and is presented to one student in each of Mahoning County’s public high schools, chartered Christian schools, Ursuline High School, Cardinal Mooney High School, and one vocational student from the MCCTC and Youngstown Choffin.

Other scholarship winners are Jared Giovannone, Austintown Fitch High School; Swathi Padmanabhan, Boardman High School; Kendall Brunn, Campbell Memorial High School (Impact Academy); Simon Kovass, Canfield High School; Natalie DiVencenzo, Cardinal Mooney High School; Fa'Rah Little, Chaney High School; Niara Keyes, Choffin CTC; Trent Williamson, Columbiana High School; Keagan Beck, Jackson Milton High School; Sophia Yon, Lowellville High School; Kaleigh Williams, Mahoning County CTC; Leanne Williams, Poland Seminary High School; Gretchen Bartels, South Range High School; Ashley Bellstrom, Springfield High School; Emma Morris, Struthers High School; Gabriella Gasior, Ursuline High School; Mikayla Upright, Valley Christian High School; Evelyn Collier, Western Reserve High School;  and NeVaeh Shouse, Youngstown Rayen Early College High School.
