Seattle Police investigating after man injured in Ballard shooting

Seattle police are investigating after a man was shot outside the Ballard Food Bank on Monday.

Police responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of 14th Avenue Northwest and Northwest Leary Way around 4:45 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a 53-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Seattle Fire Department medics treated the man at the scene before he was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

Witnesses told officers that a male suspect fled from the scene on foot after shooting the man.

Police later learned the victim and the suspect appeared to know each other and were involved in an altercation before the shooting occurred.

After searching the area, officers were unable to locate the suspect, but they did recover surveillance footage and ballistic evidence from the scene.
