Seattle police posts guide to legal pot use

Associated Press

SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Police Department has come out with a practical guide to marijuana use in the city that has taken off online.

The department's post has been viewed more than 120,000 times since it was published last Friday, days after Washington voters approved legalizing recreational pot use.

Under the initiative, possession of an ounce or less of marijuana will be legal for people 21 years or older after Dec. 6.

The guide answers burning questions, including whether you could smoke pot outside at a park or magic show after Dec. 6. The department says you'd risk a ticket but not arrest.

Police spokesman Sean Whitcomb says the reaction from the public has been very positive. He says it's more mixed though still favorable within the department.
