Seattle Kids Change the Course at First-Ever U.S. 'We Day'

On March 27, 15,000 people turned up at Seattle's Key Arena to participate in the first We Day held in the United States. For years, We Day has been inspiring Canadian youth to make the change they'd like to see in the world, so the organizers decided to hop the border and bring the successful event to the U.S. The most remarkable thing about the thousands-strong turnout? You can't buy a ticket to We Day; you have to earn it through service.

Christian McGuigan of Participant Media spoke onstage about Change the Course, a campaign to restore water to the vanishing Colorado River. A healthy river would ensure we'd have enough water to drink for years to come.

To keep the Colorado River flowing, Participant Media has teamed with National Geographic, the Bonneville Environmental Foundation, and Silk. And you can help the effort by pledging to minimize your water footprint at home and to be more conscious of what you eat and buy. With each pledge, corporate partners will sponsor projects on the ground that will keep more Colorado River water flowing. Every pledge will restore 1,000 gallons. Together we can Change the Course!

Watch the video and learn more about how you can help restore water to the Colorado River.
