Seattle authorities say 2 people found in suitcases by teens filming TikTok video died from gunshot wounds

Seattle authorities have identified the remains of two people found stuffed inside suitcases discovered last month by a group of teens making a TikTok video.

Jessica Lewis, a 35-year-old mother of four children, and her longtime boyfriend Austin Wenner, 27, both died from gunshot wounds, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. The suspected homicides are estimated to have taken place 10 days prior to the finding of their bodies on the shores of Alki Beach on June 19.

The TikTok video showing the discovery of the suitcases that were later found to contain the two bodies garnered national attention last month. The teens said they were led to the location by Randonautica, an app that was created to "encourage users to venture outside of their day-to-day routine," according to its website.

In the video, the teens laugh and joke about finding a suitcase through the app before becoming serious after opening the bag.

The teens immediately called 911 and posted the video the next day. A second bag was located in the water, the Seattle Police Department said in a statement.

“We’re glad the video is out there," said Seattle Police Detective Mark Jamieson. "We spoke to the people involved and they corroborated some of the information."

Lewis' aunt Gina Jaschke issued a plea for help in an interview with NBC local affiliate KING 5-TV: "Somebody knows something," said Jaschke.

The Seattle Police Tip Line is 206-233-5000.
