Search for woman who jumped in river to save daughter continues

Crews have resumed their search for a 30-year-old woman who disappeared after jumping in a river to save her daughter, the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office said. The woman was in the Fisherman's Bend Mobile Home Park in the Hills Ferry area when she disappeared. The sheriff's office said it got a report around 6:30 p.m. Thursday of several people in the water drowning, including children. The sheriff's office said an 11-year-old girl was struggling in the San Joaquin River when her mother jumped in to save her. The girl's 13-year-old brother jumped in and was able to pull the 11-year-old back to land. The children are all accounted for and safe, but the mother did not resurface. Crews halted their search in the water at 11 p.m. Thursday but brought their boat back out Friday morning. The sheriff's office has deployed drones to aid in the search. This is a developing story.
