SkyCam9 was over the scene around 4:30 p.m. when emergency crews could be seen searching the water around the beach.

Fire officials later said in a post on X that marine units, rescue divers and a CPD helicopter were searching the waters and asked the public to avoid the area near the Church Street boat ramp as crews are utilizing it as a staging area for rescue equipment.

The search was eventually called off at around 6:15 p.m. after fire officials said they found no credible evidence of a missing swimmer.

Due to the investigation, officials closed all Evanston beaches on Monday and said they will not reopen until Tuesday morning.
