Search underway after CTA Pink Line passenger badly beaten

CHICAGO — Authorities are asking for help in the search for a man who badly beat a passenger on a CTA Pink Line train on Friday night.

According to police, the attack happened just after 11 p.m. on the Pink Line train in the 1700 block of West Polk Street.

Authorities say the man approached the passenger and began beating him, leaving him seriously injured.

On Tuesday, Chicago police shared photos captured by CTA surveillance cameras of a person who is believed to be responsible for the attack.

Police search for 6 wanted in connection with string of CTA robberies

Authorities say the person responsible is believed to be a man between 25 and 35 years of age, who stands between 5-foot-11 and 6-foot-2 and weighs between 200 and 250 pounds.

Officers say at the time of the attack, he was spotted wearing a black shirt, black pants, and black boots. He also has several tattoos on both arms.

Police advise the public to remain aware of their surroundings and stay free from distractions. According to officers, anyone who is confronted by an assailant should try to remain calm.

Authorities warn the public never to pursue a fleeing assailant and instead work to remember any unique physical characteristics of the offenders.
