Search underway for ‘armed and dangerous’ man accused of killing Charlotte teen

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A search is underway for an ‘armed and dangerous’ man who is accused of killing a 17-year-old from Charlotte, authorities announced Wednesday.

Terrance Cordell McKnight Jr., 18., is one of two suspects connected to this homicide case. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said McKnight Jr. is wanted for murder.

The deadly shooting happened just after 6:40 p.m. Friday, April 12, in the 7600 block of Boswell Road in east Charlotte. As CMPD officers arrived at the scene, they found Kaleb Brown, 17, suffering from one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In late April, a 17-year-old juvenile suspect was identified as a suspect in this case and charged with murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, and robbery with a dangerous weapon. The minor was transferred into the custody of the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.

Now, CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team is asking for the public’s help in locating the second suspect, McKnight Jr. Authorities warn he should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call CMPD’s VCAT at 704-336-VCAT (8228).

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
