Boat lost outside Golden Gate prompts search and rescue

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Two adults aboard a vessel that lost power outside the Golden Gate Bridge are OK, according to the San Francisco Fire Department. A search and rescue operation was launched after the boat lost power and began taking on water, according to the San Francisco Fire Department. Preliminary reports indicated that there were two people aboard the boat.

Radio communications with the boat have been reestablished, having previously been lost, SFFD said. United States Coast Guard air and rescue units have been dispatched to the scene and rescuers have a visual on the vessel. Large waves and hazardous conditions are present at the scene, according to officials.

The boat will be towed to Clipper Cove, according to SFFD.
