Seahawks re-sign FB Robinson
Fullback Michael Robinson re-signed with the Seattle Seahawks.
Derrick Coleman, who beat out Robinson for the starting job during the preseason, suffered a hamstring injury against Arizona on Thursday night, and rookie Spencer Ware was placed on injured reserve with the ankle injury that had sidelined him since Week 2.
The Seahawks also released wide receiver Josh Lenz from the practice squad and signed wide receiver Ricardo Lockette and guard Zach Allen to the practice squad.
Robinson was a suprise among the Seahawks' final roster cuts. He was with the Seahawks from 2010-12, made the Pro Bowl in 2011 as running back Marshawn Lynch's lead blocker and is a popular veteran in the locker room. Robinson, 30, was also a Pro Bowl alternate last season.
However, he dealt with an undisclosed virus during the preseason and was due to count $2.5 million against the salary cap.
The Seahawks brought Robinson in for a physical on Monday and officially signed him Tuesday.
"Sign, sealed and delivered! Finally back at work! Thanks 12th Man for all your support," Robinson wrote on his Twitter account.
