Seahawks OT Giacomini had knee surgery

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told 710 ESPN radio in Seattle on Monday that right tackle Breno Giacomini had knee surgery.

Giacomini did not play Sunday's 23-20 overtime victory over the Houston Texans, one of three regulars on the offensive line out. Left tackle Russell Okung and center Max Unger also did not play due to injuries.

Carroll did not say how long Giacomini will be out. He said the surgery was to remove loose bodies in the knee.

Rookie seventh-round draft pick Michael Bowie started in place of Giacomini and will likely continue in that role until Giacomini returns.

The Seahawks' makeshift offensive line gave up five sacks Sunday and quarterback Russell Wilson was hit several more times.
