It was curry night and this seagull seemed to enjoy its chicken tikka masala a bit too much.

While gorging itself on some curry, the bird fell into a waste container full of it and turned a greasy orange. Workers at the site, in Wales, rescued the seagull and carried it to volunteers at the Vale wildlife hospital, near Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.

There, staff used washing-up liquid to polish the seagull's feathers and return them to their original colours. The smell of curry, however, remained.

Lucy Kells, veterinary nurse at the hospital, said on Facebook that the bird "smelled good."

"We've cleaned him up and he is doing well, with no upset tummy! Hopefully he'll stick to a much more bland diet in the future!! Need to think of a good curry related name for him now - how about 'Korma the gull'!?"

Someone nicknamed the bird "Gullfrazie" on Facebook.

“He is a bit skinny so we are building his strength up a bit,” Kells told PA. “I guess that’s why he was trying to get a piece of meat from the vat and fell in.”

Gullfrazie, who is believed to be 2 years old, will be transferred to an outside aviary to re-waterproof his feathers before being released into the wild.

Hopefully he'll tread lightly around curry next time.
