Seafood restaurant to close in SF’s Castro after 22 years

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A longtime seafood restaurant in Castro District is set to close this weekend after 22 years of operating in San Francisco, the business announced in a press release Wednesday. Catch will serve its final meal on Saturday, March 9.

Catch owner Sanjay Gujral decided to retire. The restaurant is located at 2362 Market St.

“Closing Catch is one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make,” Gujral said in a statement. “This restaurant isn’t just a business to me. It’s a home, a family, and a legacy that I’m proud to have nurtured along with my incredible team over the years: behind the bar, on the floor, in the kitchen and of course, our loyal customers.”

Before becoming the home of Catch, the site was the home for a camera shop dedicated to LGBT icon Harvey Milk, according to a press release. The building was later the birthplace of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt.
