SD housing authority to get settlement money

South Dakota Housing Development Authority to get state's share of multistate settlement

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Attorney General Marty Jackley says the South Dakota Housing Development Authority will receive South Dakota's share of a multistate settlement with one of the nation's biggest mortgage processing companies.

South Dakota is getting about $344,000 through the settlement with Lender Processing Services Inc., which earlier this year agreed to pay $121 million to resolve states' claims that it wrongfully foreclosed on homeowners who should have been allowed to stay in their homes.

Jackley says the state Housing Development Authority administers a fund aimed at preserving and expanding affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families.
