This Scrapped ‘Stranger Things’ Storyline Hurts Our Steve Harrington Hair-Loving Hearts

Gasp! Joe Keery just dropped a major bombshell about his character Steve Harrington’s original storyline in Stranger Things. (Hint: There was once a chance his flowing Fawcett locks wouldn’t exist.)

Last night, Keery appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers and revealed Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer (aka the Duffer brothers) initially pictured Steve as a chlorine-soaked swimmer. Keery told Meyers, “At the beginning of the first season, I got the part, and talked to the Duffer brothers. They were saying, ‘He’s going to be kinda like this jock character, and he’s like a swimmer.’”

The Duffer brothers were so set on labeling Steve as the Michael Phelps of Hawkins High, they even had Keery attend some serious swimming training sessions. He added, “So, for the first, I don’t know, six weeks prior to shooting, I was training, doing all this swimming prep.”

Welp, we can’t say we’d hate a speedo-clad Steve. Farrah Fawcett hair and a speedo for season three?
