Scranton school administrators to meet with board Monday

Apr. 30—Scranton School District administrators will meet Monday with school board members prior to a scheduled vote on a new compensation and benefit package.

The meeting, which will take place before the board's regularly scheduled meeting, resolves a court action the administrators filed this week that sought to compel the full board to hold the gathering.

Frank Tunis, attorney for the administrators, said they have several concerns with the five-year deal, including salary and a change in how health care benefits are managed. Because they are not unionized, they cannot strike. The meeting will give them the chance to more fully discuss concerns with the board, he said.

The meeting is not open to the public because it involves negotiations over compensation.
