Scouts place over 4,000 United States flags on graves of local veterans

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – A group of scouts in Appleton placed flags at the graves of local veterans as Memorial Day Weekend is on the horizon.

More than 100 scouts gathered at Highland Memorial Park Cemetary. They estimated they placed around 4,000 United States flags on all veterans’ tombstones.

“It is a big part of scouts and recognizing the sacrifices made by vets in the past,” said Tom Wolfert, Club Master Pack 3135.

Wolfert continued to say that the scouts have continued this tradition for more than 20 years.
