Scott Russell continues to support local businesses with “Love Augusta”

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Local food blogger Scott Russell is known for supporting local restaurants with his blog “6bitesin

He’s also known for shedding a light on local businesses as well.

He and local videographer, Kyle Jones created “Love Augusta,” a web series that focuses on highlighting local businesses in the area.

For this episode of “Your Hometown Road Trip” we caught up with Russell to talk about his journey.

What is 6bitesin?

“I’m born and raised in Augusta, and I love Augusta with a passion, and I started out with a food Instagram as a joke, and it started really taking off, and I turned it in to a way to support all of the great, local restaurants that we have, and have a good time doing it.”

What do you do on Love Augusta?

“Creating that show was my way of doing more than just food. That was my way of promoting local businesses, local activities, and I always had the idea to do that but editing is very hard, but I met Kyle Jones, he’s an amazing videographer, and I believe we’re almost at 200 episodes now.”

What’s the reaction from these businesses when you come out there?

“First they say, ‘how much do I owe you,’ and we tell them it’s free, so they’re in shock about that. I think they really appreciate it, and I hope it gets them a lot of business, but I have a great time doing it, so that’s what it’s all about.

Anything you want to say to the people who’ve supported you?

I just want to say, I can’t thank Augusta enough for all the support.
