Scott Pruitt Reportedly Makes Security Detail Find His Favorite Moisturizer

Because of course he did.

Environmental Protection Agency administrator Scott Pruitt, being the sound government official that he is, has reportedly made his staff members take care of personal tasks ranging from fetching dry-cleaning to apartment hunting to mattress shopping, The Washington Post notes. And as of yesterday, that laundry list (something his staff is also likely all too familiar with) now includes searching for his favorite moisturizer, according to two people "familiar with those trips" who spoke anonymously to the Post. All of this begs the question, "Should someone perhaps explain to Scott Pruitt the purpose of a security detail?"

While the formula in question wasn't specifically revealed, the The Cut shared on June 7 that according to sources, Pruitt has a certain thing for the Ritz-Carlton's signature moisturizer, a proprietary formula that is a "guest-favorite," according to the hotel's e-commerce site. (It's currently on sale for $27.20, so time to stock up?)

In response to the Post's request for comment regarding these particular errands, EPA spokeswoman Kelsi Daniell issued a brief statement on Thursday, which read that, “Administrator Pruitt follows the same security protocol whether he’s in his personal or official capacity."

Since his official appointment back in December 2016, Pruitt has made several controversial policy changes — in January 2018, he overturned a proposed ban on chlorpyrifos, a chemical pesticide that is known to harm wildlife) — and has previously referred to climate change as a debate that was “far from settled.”. In March 2017, he doubled-down on claims that carbon dioxide was not “a primary contributor to the global warming that we see.” That is provably false, as documented by a report published by NASA.
