Schwarzenegger and Macron take jab at Trump vowing to 'make planet great again'

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emmanuel Macron teamed up to poke fun at President Donald Trump in a video in which they promised to "make the planet great again".

The Hollywood star posted a video on Twitter following his meeting with the French president to discuss environmental issues.

It came three weeks after Mr Trump announced he was withdrawing the US from the 2015 Paris climate accord aimed at curbing carbon emissions and combating climate change.

In the video Mr Schwarzenegger, the former governor of California, said: "I'm here with President Macron and we are talking about environmental issues and a green future."

Mr Macron gave a thumbs up and said: "And now we deliver together to make the planet great again. Thank you."

The video was captioned "With President Macron, a great leader!"

Mr Schwarzenegger, a Republican governor, declined to endorse Mr Trump in the 2016 US election.

He has engaged in an on-going spat with Mr Trump over both environmental issues and The Apprentice, the US television show.

Mr Schwarzenegger became the star on the show after Mr Trump left to campaign for the presidency.

Mr Trump has highlighted that The Apprentice garnered lower ratings with Mr Schwarzenegger in the role.
