Schuylkill County settles part of sexual harassment lawsuit

POTTSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Schuylkill County will pay $1.7 million as part of a settlement in a sexual harassment and assault lawsuit against a former commissioner.

The lawsuit was filed in 2021 claiming Commissioner George F. Halcovage Jr. sexually harassed and assaulted four county workers.

Geisinger cancer patients to benefit from transportation grant

The settlement unanimously approved by the current board of commissioners Thursday morning, focuses on just one of the four complainants identified only as Jane Doe One.

The case remains pending for the other three plaintiffs.
