Which schools won the Cuomo Bridge falcon-naming contest? What are 4 baby birds called?

Beakoncé topped the charts for names of the four baby peregrine falcons that nest above the Tappan Zee.

The New York State Thruway Authority and Veolia water company held a contest for local schools to choose names for the eyases that hatched in April in a nesting box on the southeast spire of the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.

Schools nominated about 100 names and a panel chose 10 for a public vote on the final four.

The chicks began hatching on Earth Day, April 22. Three are females and one is male, the Thruway Authority reports.

A total of 191,660 votes were cast for the four bird names. The birds will soon become fledglings as they prepare to take flight any day.

The winning schools will have the bridge lit in their school colors. Each winning class will get to meet with a certified falconer.
