These school districts have canceled classes for the April 8 total solar eclipse

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Several Central Texas school districts have canceled classes on April 8, the day a total solar eclipse will be visible across much of the region.

Marble Falls ISD called it “kind of a once-in-a-lifetime thing for our students.”

How much of the sun will be covered in your city during April’s solar eclipse?

The district is one of several that have made the day a student holiday. KXAN has created the following map and list of districts across our viewing area who have also canceled classes.

The next total eclipse visible in the U.S. won’t be for another 20 years. The eclipse on August 23, 2044, will only be visible in Montana and the Dakotas.
