School closures in, near Baton Rouge after severe weather passes through overnight
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – After severe weather went through the Baton Rouge metro area overnight, some schools and offices have announced they are closing on Friday, May 17.
There are thousands of customers without power in the state. As of 1:20 p.m., Entergy is reporting almost 31,000 people without power in Louisiana. Demco is reporting almost 3,000 people without power.
The BRPRoud Storm Tracker Team said there is a flood watch in effect for all of our viewing area until 7 a.m. on Saturday, May 18.

Ascension
A power outage has led to the closure of Ascension Head Start in Donaldsonville. Ascension Public Schools said all other “campuses and offices are open today.”
East Baton Rouge Parish
These schools are closed due to power outages:
Audubon Elementary
Forest Heights Elementary
McKinley Middle
Sherwood Middle
Baton Rouge Magnet High
Park Elementary
Glen Oaks Park Elementary
East Feliciana
“All East Feliciana Public Schools and offices will be closed” on Friday, May 17.
