School bus involved in minor crash in Chemung County

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WETM) — A school bus for a local district was involved in a crash with another vehicle in Chemung County on Wednesday.

According to the Horseheads Village Police Department, a school bus with the Horseheads Central School District was struck after traveling east on Gardner Road crossing Westinghouse Road with the right of way on Wednesday, March 13, around 3:30 p.m.

Traffic slowed following one-car crash on Clemens Center Parkway

Police say that a car driven by an elderly individual went through the light in the northbound lane and hit the bus, causing little to no damage to the bus but injuring the driver and passenger in the car, they were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The bus had five children on board, with one sustaining minor injuries and denied going to the hospital.

Police say that the car driver was ticketed for failure to yield to the right of way.
