School board receives third-party report for deaths of Blacksburg High School students

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Montgomery County Public Schools has confirmed that it has received the report from the third-party review into the deaths of two Blacksburg High School students from 2023.

On Nov. 8, 2023, two teenagers were found dead inside a car at a parking garage, near Virginia Tech. One of the teens was identified as Serenity Hawley.

In January, the school district held a special meeting and voted to initiate a review of their deaths.

On April 26, the district announced the School Board is reviewing and evaluating the findings. The district says if any actions are necessary, they will be taken.

“Additionally, once reviewed, the school board intends to share more information regarding the
contents of the report,” said the school district in a statement.
