German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has warned China against supporting Russia in its war of aggression against Ukraine, the German government said in a message on its website on April 15.

"The attack on Ukraine by Russia is not just a European problem because if it becomes widespread, it will pose a threat to peace and security around the globe," said Scholz.

He noted that Russia is waging a war of aggression against Ukraine and added that no one should help Moscow to continue it, particularly when it comes to circumventing international sanctions or supplying weapons to the aggressor.

"This should also apply to dual-use goods that could theoretically be used for civilian purposes but are in fact used in a military context," Scholz said.

On April 7, Bloomberg reported that China had increased its support of Russia’s military industry.

The following day, the Chinese Foreign Ministry claimed that Beijing is not profiting from the war in Ukraine and that it regulates the export of dual-use goods "in accordance with laws and regulations."

On April 9, U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan stated that the United States does not have evidence of China providing direct military aid to Russia. However, he mentioned that China is helping Russia bolster its military-industrial complex.
