Planned outages introduced this month across Ukraine will likely continue into winter, Ukrenergo chairman, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, said on the air of public broadcaster Suspilne on May 21.

"I can say that a difficult winter awaits us," he said.

"This winter can be difficult because naturally consumption increases in winter. Even taking into account the generation restoration plans that currently exist, it is quite likely that it will be impossible to completely rule out the possibility of scheduled shutdowns."

All large thermal and hydroelectric power plants in Ukraine were damaged due to Russian shelling, NPC Ukrenergo reported on May 20.

Ukrenergo urged consumers to move the usage of powerful electrical appliances to daytime hours — from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
