UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm watch, tennis ball-sized hail possible for Austin area Thursday
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Austin area this afternoon into the evening, with a chance for scattered storms, hail and high winds throughout the day.
The watch is active until 7 p.m., with hail reaching up to the size of tennis balls and winds reaching up to 65 mph in the most severe storms throughout the region, according to the National Weather Service.
The storms come before a probable humid dry spell, with next week's temperatures hitting the triple-digit mark.
The high for the day is expected to remain in the low 90s, with dispersed thunderstorms throughout.
Tomorrow’s forecast is anticipated to clear up, with temperatures hitting the high 90s, according to the National Weather Service.
